Terms of Service

1. Agreement & acceptance

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you (“User,” “you,” or “your”) and Bugra Acemoglu @ 2026 (“Developer,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) governing your use of the Secure Text mobile application (the “App”), including its custom keyboard extension, share extension, widgets, SecureVault, and any related services. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not install or use the App.

2. Description of service

Secure Text is an offline-first, client-only cryptographic toolkit. It is not a hosted messaging service, internet service provider, or telecommunications network. We do not operate chat servers or cloud message storage. The App generates ciphertext that you share via third-party courier applications. We have no control over those couriers.

3. License grant & restrictions

Subject to these Terms, Developer grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the App on Apple-branded devices you own or control, as permitted by the Apple App Store Terms of Service. You may not reverse engineer the App except where prohibited restrictions are not allowed by law; circumvent security or subscription checks; modify or create derivative works; or rent, lease, lend, sell, or sublicense the App.

4. User accounts & device security

Secure Text does not use developer-hosted user accounts. Your “account” is the cryptographic identity generated locally on your Device. Optional App Lock, Face ID, Touch ID, duress PIN, and panic wipe are UX safety features you configure. You are solely responsible for the physical security of your Device. If the Device is compromised, jailbroken, or accessed by an unauthorized party, local encryption may be compromised. Panic wipe, if configured, permanently deletes keys, pads, encrypted stores, and Keychain items and is unrecoverable.

5. Cryptographic features disclaimer

The App uses standard cryptographic protocols including AES-256-GCM, P-256 elliptic curves, and ML-KEM-768 post-quantum components. No encryption is mathematically unbreakable or 100% secure under all threat models. Developer does not guarantee absolute anonymity or immunity from targeted surveillance. You bear the risk related to efficacy and must verify recipient identities out-of-band.

6. OTP pads & key material

You are entirely responsible for the secure generation, exchange, and backup of OTP files and cryptographic keys. If you lose your Device or delete the App without backing up identity keys and pad files, your data will be permanently lost. Developer does not possess copies of your keys and cannot recover your data.

7. Groups & imported keys

The App supports distributed group keys (via .stgrp files). Free-tier users who import a group key file may decrypt messages but cannot create groups or send encrypted group messages without a Pro Subscription. You are responsible for joining groups and importing keys only from trusted sources.

8. Subscriptions, billing, and refunds

Secure Text offers optional auto-renewing subscriptions and/or a lifetime purchase tier (“Pro Subscription”). All billing is handled by Apple via your Apple ID. Subscriptions renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Developer cannot issue refunds; refund requests must be directed to Apple Customer Support.

9. Free vs. Pro features

Developer may modify features included in the free tier and the Pro Subscription. The free tier currently allows basic decryption workflows. Pro unlocks encryption features, full group capabilities, document encryption, Share Extension decrypt workflows, and the OTP outer encryption layer.

10. Acceptable use

You agree to use the App in compliance with all applicable laws. You are strictly prohibited from using the App to facilitate illegal activity, including terrorism, human trafficking, or the distribution of child sexual abuse material; for illegal surveillance, harassment, stalking, or domestic abuse; to distribute malware; or in violation of export control laws.

11. Third-party services & messengers

You will use third-party applications to transmit ciphertext generated by Secure Text. Those parties are not affiliated with Developer. Your use of those apps is subject to their terms and privacy policies.

12. Intellectual property

The App, including its original code, UX/UI, designs, custom file formats, and trademarks (“Secure Text”), are the exclusive property of Developer and its licensors. You retain full ownership of the content you choose to encrypt using the App.

13. Disclaimer of warranties

THE APP IS PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS. DEVELOPER EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND SECURE OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION. DEVELOPER DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL PROTECT YOU AGAINST ALL CYBER THREATS OR DEVICE COMPROMISES.

14. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, DEVELOPER SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, INCLUDING DATA LOSS DUE TO PANIC WIPE OR DEVICE LOSS. TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO DEVELOPER FOR THE APP IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR FIFTY US DOLLARS ($50.00), WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

15. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Developer from claims arising out of your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any applicable law or third-party rights.

16. Export compliance

You represent that you are not located in an embargoed country and are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. You agree to comply with applicable export and re-export control laws regarding cryptographic software.

17. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Türkiye, without regard to conflict of law principles. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Istanbul, Türkiye.

18. Changes

We may modify these Terms at any time by updating the “Last updated” date. Continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

20. Apple third-party beneficiary

These Terms are concluded between you and Developer only, and not with Apple Inc. Developer, not Apple, is solely responsible for the App. Apple has no obligation to furnish maintenance and support. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
